The inaugural Diplo’s Run Club 5km offered up some new energy to the city of Miami, FL, on January 17, 2026, as more than 7,000 participants joined Grammy-winning DJ and producer Diplo for a waterfront run and music festival.
The event featured a 3.1 mile route through downtown Miami. Starting and finishing at Maurice A Ferré Park, the morning concluded with a finish line festival where Diplo performed alongside surprise guest Hugel and several celebrity friends.
The event saw participation from various high-profile figures, including Major Lazer’s Walshy Fire, as well as actress Claire Holt, and pop star Camila Cabello, who both completed the 5km course. NFL wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr also appeared on stage during the post-race concert.
For Diplo, Miami is central to the origin of the event series. After running the Miami Half Marathon in 2022 and heading straight to a DJ set, he developed the concept for a series where ‘movement leads directly into celebration’.
Diplo said “This is where it all started. Miami brings the energy – people love to move and have a great time. Today was all about mixing running with music and showing up together.”
In the competitive field, Christian Vitagliano, 27, was the overall winner with a time of 16:02. Bethany Sachtleben claimed the women’s title, finishing third overall in 17:36.
The event partnered with PLUS1, a non-profit that assists artists and brands in maximising social impact. A portion of the event proceeds will benefit underserved youth in south Florida through the national non-profit Good Sports, which provides sports equipment, apparel, and footwear to children.
The US-based event series is designed to merge the worlds of fitness and electronic music. Diplo’s Run Club is set to conclude its current tour in Phoenix, AZ, on January 24, 2026.
