Following voting by athletes from around the world, the top Challenge Family events for the 2025 season have been revealed with the announcement of the Challenge Family Awards winners.
The Challenge Family Awards were developed in 2019 to provide recognition to the international team of race directors and staff behind the scenes for their contributions to the sport of triathlon.
The shortlist for the awards is decided based on post-race surveys completed by thousands of athletes after each event, with the final placings determined by athlete voting.
Challenge Almere–Amsterdam in the Netherlands took the top honour of Race of the Year. The event is known for its long-standing history in the sport, with race options including a full distance triathlon comprised of a 3.8km swim, 180km bike, and 42.2km run.
Jort Vlam, CEO at Challenge Family, said “Having these awards decided by athlete voting makes them especially meaningful, because they reflect the real experiences of the people at the heart of our sport. At Challenge Family, we believe every athlete matters, whether they are crossing the finish line first or achieving a deeply personal goal.
“Our races are built on the strength of community, bringing together athletes, volunteers, race teams and host destinations in an environment that is welcoming, inclusive and supportive. These awards are a testament to the passion and dedication of our global race teams who work tirelessly to create unforgettable experiences where every athlete feels valued and part of something bigger.”
Other notable winners included DATEV Challenge Roth in Germany, which secured awards for both Best Bike and Best Finish Line Party. The Championship, held in Slovakia, was recognised for having both the Best Atmosphere and Best Pasta Party.
The 2025 winners also highlighted newer additions to the circuit, such as Challenge Sir Bani Yas in Abu Dhabi, which was named Best New Race.
