The 2026 edition of Giro-E Enel has officially launched following a presentation at La Pista Lainate near Milan. Organised by RCS Sport & Events, the event will feature 15 Official Teams and 12 Daily Teams that will participate in the eighth edition of the world’s only Grand Tour dedicated to pedal-assisted bikes.
Former Formula 1 driver Giancarlo Fisichella attended as a special guest, acting as an ambassador for road safety and sustainability. The competition takes place on the same roads and dates as the Giro d’Italia, covering 1,091km across 18 stages between May 12 and May 31, 2026.
Matteo Mursia, Chief Revenue Officer at RCS Sport & Events, said “For RCS Sports & Events, Giro-E Enel is an increasingly strategic platform to create tangible value for partners and stakeholders. The growth of the project demonstrates how ready the market is for initiatives that integrate sport, innovation and sustainability.”
The launch also served as the debut for the three competition jerseys. These include the Maglia Blu by Enel for the General Classification, the Maglia Arancio by Continental for the Blind Chrono classification, and the Maglia Rossa by Valsir for the Master classification. Teams will compete for these honours throughout the event in May.
Giro-E Enel 2026 will feature an average of 60km per stage with an overall total elevation gain exceeding 20,000m. The fleet of electric and hybrid vehicles for the event is provided by Citroën, the Official Mobility Partner.
Giovanni Falcone, Managing Director at Citroën Italia, said “Being Official Mobility Partner of Giro-E means for Citroën going beyond simple sports sponsorship and being present across the territory, in a widespread and direct way.”
The roster of team captains includes several high-profile former professional cyclists, such as Gianni Bugno, Claudio Chiappucci, Igor Astarloa, Damiano Cunego, and Andrea Tafi.
