HydraPak has been announced as the first-ever Official Sustainability Partner of the 2026 Brighton Marathon Weekend. The event, which includes the sold-out Brighton Marathon on April 12, 2026, is the third-biggest marathon in the UK.
Organised by London Marathon Events (LME), the new partnership with accessories specialist HydraPak marks the first time the organiser has appointed a dedicated sustainability partner for one of its events. LME notes that the move highlights its position as an adopter of initiatives intended to reduce the carbon footprint of mass participation events.
Based in northern California, HydraPak is a US-based supplier of flexible and durable hydration products. This agreement represents the first time it has partnered with a UK event.
The partnership coincides with the launch of Team Green, a new initiative for the 2026 Brighton Marathon aimed at reducing environmental impact. Participants who join Team Green agree to support efforts to reduce lorry movements from the start to the finish by not bringing a kitbag.
In return, Team Green members will receive a Brighton Marathon-themed HydraPak SpeedCup. The cup is designed to be ‘crushable’ and lightweight, weighing 10g and holding up to 200ml.
The design allows the cup to be stashed in a pack, belt, or pocket between use at the five water refill stations along the 26.2 mile route. According to the event organiser, these products help reduce the need for single-use cups.
Spectators and participants can view further hydration designs at the Brighton Miles Festival in Preston Park on April 11, 2026, and in the Beach Village at Hove Lawns on April 12, 2026.
Jennifer Krupey, Vice President of Marketing at HydraPak, said “Carrying your own cup or bottle is a powerful and practical solution for reducing event-day waste. We’re proud to be the inaugural Official Sustainability Partner and excited to help runners discover the benefits of carrying their own hydration.”
Kate Chapman, Head of Sustainability at London Marathon Events, added “Brighton is one of the most forward-thinking cities in the UK when it comes to sustainability, so it’s only right that Brighton Marathon Weekend is the first event for LME to introduce an Official Sustainability Partner.”
Chapman continued “Innovations such as the HydraPak SpeedCup allow us to reduce single-use cups on the route while helping participants stay safely hydrated. We’re delighted to bring HydraPak onboard as we take another step on our journey to eliminating single-use plastic at all our events.”
To receive the SpeedCup, participants must manage their booking through the registration platform, Let’s Do This, and opt into the baggage-free Team Green start assembly area.
