HYROX Phoenix Major is its first fitness racing event inside an NFL stadium

HYROX, the ‘World Series of Fitness Racing’, is set to make history with its Phoenix Major. The event will be the company’s first full-scale fitness racing competition ever staged inside an NFL football stadium.

The event will take place at State Farm Stadium, home of the Arizona Cardinals, from January 29 to February 1, 2026. The move to an NFL venue marks a key moment for HYROX as it arrives on one of the largest stages in American professional sport.

Leveraging the scale of the stadium, the HYROX Phoenix Major will transform the venue into a ‘vast, purpose-built fitness racing colosseum’. The stadium is capable of hosting up to 50,000 spectators and accommodating up to 15,000 athletes – making it one of the largest HYROX events ever held in the United States.

The announcement follows significant momentum for HYROX across the country, with US participation reportedly surging more than 300% year-on-year.

Douglas Gremmen, Chief Growth Officer at HYROX, said “Staging HYROX inside an NFL stadium is not only a milestone for us, it’s a milestone for the entire sport. State Farm Stadium offers an unrivalled stage to deliver a race experience of a completely new magnitude.”

Gremmen added “Phoenix represents everything we aim for as we continue expanding across the US: passionate community energy, world-class sporting infrastructure and an appetite for high-intensity competition. The HYROX Phoenix Major will set a new global benchmark for what a fitness racing event can be.”

The Phoenix Major is expected to attract elite athletes from around the world as they compete for ranking points and qualification spots for the HYROX World Championships, which will be held in Stockholm in June 2026.

By connecting gym communities across the world through training and competition, HYROX is aiming to be the ‘cultural heartbeat of fitness’.

Built around a unique race format of 8 x 1 km runs and 8 workout stations, HYROX has established itself as a dominant force in fitness racing participation, at the elite and amateur levels. It is also making a push for its racing format to be given Olympic recognition.
