MyWhoosh Treasure Hunt, with Bitcoin rewards, designed to encourage virtual world exploration

MyWhoosh Treasure Hunt

MyWhoosh, the free-to-use virtual cycling platform, has confirmed the launch of a new monthly community initiative, the MyWhoosh Treasure Hunt, which is designed to reward exploration across its virtual worlds.

The first event is scheduled for Saturday, January 10 2026, at 13:00 GST. Unlike the platform’s competitive racing events, such as the Sunday Race Club, the Treasure Hunt focuses on discovery rather than speed.

Event format and rewards
On event days, a ‘treasure gate’ will be hidden on a specific route within one of MyWhoosh’s open worlds. Riders have exactly one hour from the start time to find and pass through the gate. Successful participants will receive a ‘You Found the Treasure!’ notification, securing a share of a monthly prize pool.

The initiative offers a total reward of 1/12 of a Bitcoin per event (approximately US$8,000 based on early 2026 valuations). This reward is shared equally among all verified participants who find the gate.

Matthew Smithson, Director of Esports and Game Operations at MyWhoosh, said “We want to make indoor cycling more than just a workout – it should be an adventure. The Treasure Hunt adds an element of mystery and reward that encourages our global community to explore every corner of our virtual environments.”

Qualification and verification
With an aim to ensure fair play and maintain the integrity of the event, MyWhoosh has set specific eligibility requirements:

  • Distance Qualification: Riders must accumulate at least 60km on the platform in the seven days leading up to the event.
  • Hardware Requirements: Participants must use a smart turbo trainer and a heart rate monitor during the hunt.
  • Verification: Rewards are only distributed after a post-event verification process to confirm all requirements were met.

The Treasure Hunt will be a recurring monthly feature, with start times and world locations varying each month to encourage continuous engagement from the global cycling community.
