Merida selects Classified Powershift for its Reacto One aero road bike

Merida, the international performance bicycle manufacturer, has selected Classified Powershift technology for the launch of its new Reacto One aero road bike.

The Merida Reacto One is designed as ‘the most uncompromising aerodynamic version of the current Reacto platform’. It integrates Classified’s two–speed Powershift hub within a high–performance 1x drivetrain architecture.

By incorporating the system, Merida joins a growing group of manufacturers specifying Powershift for premium performance platforms. The adoption reflects increasing integration of Classified’s drivetrain technology within the high–performance original equipment manufacturer (OEM) segment.

Following the successful integration of Powershift with Shimano Di2 systems, several international performance brands are now specifying Classified as part of their future product strategies.

Jens Steinsberger, Product Manager at Merida, said “We have always been fans of Classified’s Powershift Hub and its performance. When Classified expanded its integration options, specifying the system was an immediate decision for us.”

Steinsberger added “At Merida, we look for partners who challenge the way things are done, and Classified’s approach to drivetrain engineering opened up system–level possibilities that have led to our most aero set–up ever.”

The new bicycle will be on display at Cyclingworld Europe in Düsseldorf. This provides an opportunity for partners and media to view the technology ahead of testing opportunities scheduled for the coming weeks.

Merida, founded in 1972, is one of the world’s largest bicycle manufacturers with a significant research and development centre in Germany and production facilities in Taiwan. Classified is a Belgian cycling tech company focused on drivetrain innovation, aiming to replace the traditional front derailleur with its internal hub gearing system.
