The Portland Marathon in Oregon has announced a renewal of its partnership with Nike, which returns for a second year as the event’s official footwear and apparel sponsor.
The 54th annual Portland Marathon is scheduled to take place on October 4, 2026 in Portland, OR. First established in 1972, the event hosts up to 10,000 participants across four distances, which comprise a marathon, half marathon, 10K, and a kids one-mile run.
The collaboration for the 54th annual event includes the introduction of monthly long runs to support runners during their race preparation. These training sessions are being organised in partnership with local retailer Foot Traffic.
Nike will also host training experiences and a pre-race shakeout run. The brand’s presence on race weekend will include footwear trialing, athlete appearances, a live DJ, and a dedicated recovery zone.
To support community engagement, the Beaverton-based brand will offer volunteer opportunities and registration discounts to its employees. Additionally, Nike will provide all race participants with a technical running shirt on course.
The event is produced by Brooksee, an endurance event production and services company founded in 2012. Alongside the Portland event, the company manages a portfolio of road races including the Phoenix Marathon, the Las Vegas Marathon, the Mesa Marathon, and the REVEL Race Series.
Aubrey Curl, Director of Partnerships at Brooksee, said “The 2025 Portland Marathon was unlike any I’ve experienced. Nike joining as a sponsor leveled up the moment. You could feel the energy throughout race weekend as over 9,000 runners, the largest field in nearly a decade, took to the streets of Portland. It’s special to have Nike, a hometown running brand, join the city signature marathon to help grow the sport and increase race participation.”
Registration for the 2026 event is open this month. Organisers are encouraging early registration following a sell-out in 2025.
