Shimano Europe Holding has acquired Bike Fitting BV, an ‘innovative and internationally recognized company that translates insights obtained from biomechanics and the science of human movement into practical measuring instruments, which can be used for optimizing cycling efficiency and comfort.’
Marc van Rooij, President of Shimano Europe Holding said, “With Bike Fitting’s technology Shimano gets more insights of human movement for product development. Through these insights Shimano will be able to develop products even more customized to the needs of cyclists.”
He added, “With Bike Fitting’s professional measure systems, Shimano also offers a new service to the dealer network. As service is getting more important in retail we give dealers the possibility to analyze cyclists and customize their bike (frame size, saddle, handlebar, seat position, etc), this way the IBD can show their expertise.”
Bike Fitting develops, produces and sells measuring instruments and software for static as well as dynamic bicycle measurements. Established for more than 25 years, Bike Fitting measurements and recommendations are available on the market for over 1700 dealers in 44 countries.
Hay Janssen, CEO of Bike Fitting said, “For Bike Fitting this is an excellent opportunity to secure its continuity and expand internationally through Shimano’s excellent worldwide dealer network. Of course there will be no change for our existing dealers, we will keep on servicing them as they are used to.”
The Netherlands location of Bike Fitting stays the same and the former owners Hay Janssen and Cisca Scipio will remain working for the company.
