The latest release from USAT Triathlon notes that multisport race directors looking to get a jump on the upcoming 2011 season can mark their calendars for the 2011 USA Triathlon Race Director Symposium, which will be held on 14-15 January at The Broadmoor in Colorado Springs.
Registration for this weekend is now open.
"USA Triathlon is proud to be the multisport leader in presenting cutting-edge training, education and networking opportunities for race directors, event owners and other multisport constituents," said USA Triathlon Event Services Director Kathy Matejka.
"With a track record of delivering relevant and engaging programming annually since 1997, we are very pleased to offer yet another compelling symposium line-up for 2011."
In addition to the symposium, The Broadmoor in Colorado Springs will also host the third-annual USA Triathlon Hall of Fame banquet on Saturday 15 January. Tickets are not included in the cost of the symposium but will be available for purchase during the registration process. This event has sold out in each of the last two years.
Keynote speakers such as three-time US Olympic triathlete Hunter Kemper and ultra-marathoner Tim Borland, as well a two-part customer service-focused presentation from the Disney Institute, will highlight the symposium event schedule.
Additionally, attendees will benefit from general sessions and smaller breakout groups led by some of the nation’s top race directors.
Session topics include ‘How to Successfully Recruit and Retain Race Sponsors’, ‘Growing Your Event’ and ‘Paratriathlon’. All USAT certified race directors who attend the entire symposium will earn eight CEUs (Continuing Education Course points).
Ample opportunities to network and mingle with other race directors and USA Triathlon staff will also be available, and insurance expert Mike Price of ESIX will be on hand for one-on-one meetings. Other highlights of the weekend include a Friday night reception, the Broadmoor Classic Fun Run/Walk and the annual T-shirt contest.
Early-bird registration is open through to 30 November at a discounted rate of US$395, which includes two breakfasts, two lunches and the Friday night reception. The registration fee will increase to US$475 on 1 December. Registration closes on 7 January 2011, at 17:00 MST.
The Broadmoor is reserving a block of rooms for the symposium at a discounted rate of US$139 plus taxes and fees per night.
