Refreshing idea for Kids Tri Club

Recently publicised on the USAT Triathlon website, youth triathlon coach and Ironman finisher Matt Merz is aiming to secure US$50,000 as part of the Pepsi Refresh Project. Under the project, PepsiCo is giving away US$1,300,000 each month to fund great ideas.

Matt’s idea is about keeping kids active and helping them achieve a healthy lifestyle. To help Matt try and secure US$50,000 for a worthy cause, multisport athletes and fans can vote online now.

Matt’s annual one year program will:
• Provide 100 scholarships and equipment for triathlon training
• Help non-traditional youth athletes develop a value for fitness
• Teach bicycle safety/maintenance and responsible ownership skills
• Address the growing obesity epidemic by providing nutrition guidance

‘Our goal is to motivate children who lack confidence or who may be struggling with team sports due to social or physical challenges and move them toward the growing sport of triathlon.’
