SRAM to sponsor Garmin-Cervélo in 2011

Pro cycling team Garmin-Cervélo, which boasts an incredible rider line-up, has chosen SRAM Red componentry.

SRAM’s Global Marketing Director, David Zimberoff, said, “We are thrilled to continue our relationship with innovators at Cervélo and, given the incredible horsepower of the Garmin-Cervélo team, we are incredibly excited about their potential.”

SRAM Red componentry claims recent wins at the classic Paris-Roubaix road race, the Tour of Flanders and the Road World Championships.

The Garmin-Cervélo team’s Cervélo S3’s will be fully equipped with SRAM RED’s drivetrain and brakes, including the 58g titanium cage front derailleur, the 153g rear derailleur that comes standard with hybrid ceramic pulley bearings, DoubleTap shift levers, skeletonized dual pivot brake calipers, the stronger and quieter PC-1091R chain, OG-1090 cassette, and SRAM’s smooth Pro Cable System by Gore RideOn.

Veteran David Millar was excited about returning to the groupset. “I loved SRAM when I first rode it, it’s great to be back on it, and it does exactly what I ask of it.”

Garmin-Cervélo features 39 of the world’s best men and women, and Slipstream sports – the team¹s parent company – also runs a Men’s Continental team and junior development squad.

SRAM Red componentry is the equipment of choice for eight top UCI ProTeams in 2011.

It is billed as having ‘precise shifting, perfect ergonomics, and incredibly light weight, aligned with SRAM’s innovative technologies, including DoubleTap and Exact Actuation.’
