Macca boosts TriStar Mallorca

Chris McCormack, one of the greats in long course triathlon, will participate on 17 April 2011 at TriStar111 Mallorca, in Portocolom.

The Aussie triathlete, many times Olympic, Ironman and ITU World Champion and the reigning Ironman World Champion, is a major draw for TriStar Mallorca and the event owners Star Production.

McCormack (‘Macca’), who became a TriStar Ambassador last year, wants to gain victory in the inaugural edition of this unique race.

The new TriStar111 Mallorca race replaces the Olympic Portocolom Triathlon (held over the last 13 years). Competitors have the choice of two different distances: TriStar111 Mallorca (1K swim, 100K cycling and 10K run) and the ‘lighter’ version TriStar55.5 Mallorca (0.5K swim, 50K cycling and 5K run).

Macca is a charismatic and influential sportsman – with a significant following on social media (more than followers on 30,000 on Facebook and 14,000 on Twitter).

The two times world champion in Kona has previously competed in 2010 at TriStar111 Worms, Tristar111 Monaco and TriStar111 Estonia, and in 2011 he has already confirmed his participation in many other TriStar races around the world.

“TriStar are pushing the endurance barriers and setting new unique challenges that are interesting and tough,” said Chris McCormack.

“I have committed to TriStar because they continue to present spectacular events that are designed with the athlete in mind. TriStar approach race organisation in the same way I approach my racing and it is because of this I feel sound in my decision to work with them."
