Aqua Sphere UK has again been selected as the official swim kit partner to Great Swim, Europe’s largest open water swim series. In 2012, across the UK, over 22,000 entrants took the plunge with Great Swim mass participation swim events. In addition to supplying a swim cap to every participant and supplying wetsuits for hire or purchase, Aqua Sphere also makes its award winning goggles available at a special rate for all those taking part.
Comprising five open water events in 2013, for which wetsuit wear is compulsory, the Great Swim Series is staged in rivers, lakes and urban docks across the UK. The 2013 series opens with the flagship Great North Swim. This event is staged at Lake Windermere in the Lake District National Park from 14-16 June. Here, around 10,000 swimmers – from beginners to Olympic champions – will take to the water over 3 days.
The series also includes the Great East Swim, on Saturday 22 June at Alton Water Reservoir near Ipswich; the Great Manchester Swim, on Saturday 20 July at Salford Docks; and the Great London Swim, which takes place on 31 August at the Royal Victoria Docks in the UK’s capital. A new location for the Great Scottish Swim is expected to be announced soon.
