This coming weekend, the World Triathlon Madrid not only marks the halfway point in the ITU World Triathlon Series (ITU WTS), but also the first of five European stops. With stacked start lists in both the men’s and women’s races, the hot and hilly course in Spain is set to see some savage battles.
On 1-2 June, Chain Reaction Cycles, the official Retail Performance Partner of the ITU World Triathlon Series, is adding its expertise and technical knowledge in Madrid, Spain, as well as further rounds in Hamburg, Stockholm, and London. The leading international online multisport retailer will offer full mechanical support on the ground to pro athletes and age groupers.
Assisting riders with last-minute bike tweaks and essential final adjustments, Chain Reaction Cycles will be on hand to help with the needs of all athletes. The head technical official for the World Triathlon Madrid event, Andreas Galanos, said “Chain Reaction Cycles have been offering high quality service to their customers on a local and global level for nearly 30 years, so we welcome their presence in the mechanical support area at Madrid, Hamburg, Stockholm and London.
“Elite and Age Group athletes attending this weekend’s Madrid race can avail of CRC’s complimentary mechanical service zone, which includes a fully equipped wheel check area and a regular once-over of their bike before the big race.”
Madrid has an impressive triathlon history, having hosted an ITU Triathlon World Cup from 2003 from 2009 – when it then became one of the host cities for the first season of the ITU World Triathlon Series. The unique course winds its way through Casa de Campo park in central Madrid, offering a quick sightseeing crash course around one of Europe’s most dynamic cities. Sitting at almost 700m above sea level, Madrid’s climate is dry with very warm afternoons and cool nights during summer.

The first wave of age group athletes will set off at 08:45 ahead of the elite women on Saturday.
