Aimed at newcomers to triathlon, or for those that want to race hard and fast, the Vachery Triathlon Festival on 21 July will be holding a sprint distance ‘Try a Tri’ triathlon. The Sprint race is being held alongside the Olympic and Middle distance races organised for the festival at the Vachery Estate in Cranleigh, Surrey, UK.
This year’s Vachery Sprint Distance Triathlon has prizes for individual age-group wins, club championships and spot prizes. ‘A fantastic atmosphere is guaranteed’, with triathletes from all three main races descending on the stunning Vachery Estate to enjoy the race expo, food and drink, music and the opportunity to mix with national champion triathletes and pro racers. All three races are still open for entries, with the middle distance race filling up fast and almost sold out.
The 2013 Vachery Sprint Distance Triathlon race is a rare treat for athletes of all abilities and experience to race on quiet country roads (some closed) in the Surrey Hills, designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Athletes will cover a 750m lake swim, 20K bike through quiet country roads, before finishing off with a 5K run on a closed flat country lane course.
All entrants will receive a commemorative T-Shirt and every finisher receives a medal and complimentary food and drink, and More Than Massage physio post-race care. The event promises to offer something for everyone, with on-site camping within the Vachery Estate, an exhibitor’s area featuring the latest in triathlon gear and produce from local suppliers plus fun activities for all the family.
Athletes and their families can enjoy a pasta-party in the evening before the race and even get fuelled up with a racers’ breakfast on race-day morning.
For those who are members of a triathlon club or racing with a group of friends or workmates, the organisers will automatically enter these athletes into the Vachery Sprint Triathlon Club Championship so there are even more opportunities for prizes.
Clubs or social clubs who compete just for fun should love the ‘mob’ competition, which rewards those that enter the most members to the Vachery races with even more spot prizes.
The Vachery Estate is located just outside the picturesque village of Cranleigh in the Surrey Hills, only minutes from London and the motorways, M25, M23 and M3.
Entry to the Vachery Sprint Distance is £40 (BTF member) or £44 (non-member).
