Triathlon continues to flourish in Italy; and Forte Village Resort – a premier luxury resort in Sardinia – is the latest operator to launch a brand new triathlon this year on 27 October 2013. Aiming to be a world class event with Sprint and Middle distances available, a family experience is being catered for with a children’s triathlon and a scootathon on offer for the really little ones.
This year Forte Village Resort will open specially for Europe’s October half term. The new family triathlon is aiming to combine Italian style with sports tourism. The event programme has been put together ‘to ensure the whole family has a fantastic triathlon experience with distances available for all abilities and ages’.
The aim of this event is to appeal to serious and aspiring athletes, and to get them to bring their families along for the half term holiday as well as encouraging families to get fit and take part together.
The Forte Village Triathlon event is being produced in collaboration with Super Skills Travel. Forte Village’s location on the beach surrounded by pine forests, offers an idyllic backdrop for the event in Europe’s autumn sunshine.
Swim – Sprint 750m, Middle 1900m, Kids 200m
Just 20 metres from the transition area and right in front of the resort, open water swimming will take place in the crystal clear Sardinian sea over white sand.
Bike – Sprint 20K, Middle 90K, Kids 6K
The Sprint bike course is basically flat, with a few gentle slopes. The Middle distance has about a 900m climb, with the first 300m climb after 30K. There is also a 400m climb along the coastal drive, going up and down 4 times, the climbs are short but with an 11-12% gradient.
Run – Sprint 5K, Middle 21.1K, Kids 1500m
The run will take place through the Forte Village resort and surrounding countryside.
