Ironstruck, ‘the website for the beginner to advanced triathlete’, has announced its sponsorship of Ukrainian pro female triathlete Olesya Prystayko.
Born in Saratow, Russia, in 1985, the 28 year old athlete has targeted Ironman and Ironman 70.3 racing. Ironstruck notes that her career in Ironman triathlons has only just begun and ‘there is surely a bright future ahead as she gains more and more experience with each World Triathlon Corp (WTC) Ironman event she enters.’
Olesya has a four-year plan in place to maximise her impact on the Iron- and half-iron distance circuit. ‘Ironstruck is honoured to play a part in her Ironman journey and we wish her all the best and will be with her every step of the way.’
Olesya’s career in triathlon began in 2000 and her professional career began in 2004. She has been a member of the Ukrainian National Team since 2006.
Between 2008 and 2010 Olesya reached the podium of European Triathlon Championship races on a number of occasions. In all she has medalled in 43 Ukrainian Triathlon and Duathlon championship races between 2001-2010 and is a six-time Ukraine National champion at the Olympic distance.
In her first foray into the WTC owned Ironman distance Olesya finished in ninth place at Ironman Texas 2013. She followed that up with an eighth place finish in Ironman Coeur d’Alene 2013.
She now seeks sufficient Kona Ranking Points for the Hawaii Ironman World Championships in October 2013.
Online tri site Ironstruck was founded by Ray Fauteux – the author of a number of books on triathlon. These include: ‘Ironstruck: The Ironman Triathlon Journey’; ‘Lifestruck’; and ‘Triathlete in Transition’.
Ray completed his first Ironman in Hawaii 1984 and has since entered 13 more Ironman events over the years, including Ironman Canada ten times and the inaugural Ironman Coeur d’Alene in 2003. He is also a veteran of over 30 marathons, two 50-mile races and over one hundred 10K races
Commenting on the purpose of the Ironstruck site, Ray said “I was always so moved by the amazing people I came across over the years. Regardless of what destiny had in store for me in each individual Ironman I entered, it was always a rewarding experience in many ways.
“I want to share that experience, and have created this website to bring together a great community of triathletes. It doesn’t matter if you are a beginner, intermediate or advanced triathlete, participate in our project and share your experience and inspiration. Be the best you can be!”
