Interbike, the largest bicycle industry trade show in North America, has announced a new event to be held at OutDoor Demo – The Enduro Challenge at Bootleg Canyon, presented by Innovative Timing Systems (ITS). Open to all Interbike & OutDoor Demo attendees, The Enduro Challenge will take place on both Monday and Tuesday (16-17 September), with winners to be crowned on both days.
“Last year’s event was great and we had some success, but we wanted to take it up several notches for 2013,” said Pat Hus, Vice President of Interbike. “Partnering with Innovative Timing was key to the expansion along with making it a true Enduro-style event.”
Enduro races have exploded on the mountain bike scene throughout Europe and North America, driving manufacturers to create products specifically designed around this all-mountain style of racing against the clock.
The all-new Enduro Challenge will consist of four stages covering both days of the OutDoor Demo. There will be two unique timed courses that riders can put their skills and the latest bikes to test on over the two days. Awards will be presented on both days to the top three finishers for both men and women, with three grand prizes awarded on Tuesday afternoon to the combined two day winners.
The overall winner is the rider (male and female) who accumulates the lowest combined time from the four timed sections. Participation in the event is free of charge to all attendees. Riders can take practice runs, but only one official time will count towards the prizes.
ITS will use its Jaguar Chip Timing System, with new satellite technology, to track each rider at The Enduro Challenge. Jaguar has been embraced by some of the world’s leading MTB cycling events including Big Mountain Enduro, Oregon Enduro, Crankworx, USA Cycling X-Country MTB National Championships and hundreds of other major races around the world.
“Our latest product release was designed specifically for enduros, and we’re excited to showcase it for the participants and attendees of OutDoor Demo’s Enduro Challenge,” said Kurt Hansen, Founder and CEO of ITS. “We’ve designed the event to make sure rider participation – from registration to doing multiple runs to instant discovery of rider times – is as simple and easy as possible. We want everybody to get involved and give it a try.”
ITS will place customized plates on all bikes used for the enduro event and riders will just show their badges and have their bikes scanned at the start of each course, marrying the rider to that specific bike. The bike will be scanned again at the finish, clearing the bike of rider information and making it ready for the next demo participant.
Riders will be able to experience the next generation of live results, photo streaming and live updates to Facebook and Twitter through ITSYOURRACE.com. Prizes will be distributed at 16:00 local time on Monday and Tuesday, 16-17 Septembers. Riders must be present to win.
Other awards and prizes from supporting sponsors will also be distributed at that time as part of a much larger raffle. Results can be viewed using the free ITSYOURRACE app at iTunes or Google Play, at one of the 3 ITS booth locations at OutDoor Demo, or at the ITS booth on the Interbike show floor.
There are a select number of Enduro Challenge sponsorship opportunities available for exhibitors. Interested exhibitors should contact Andria Klinger at +1 949 226 5745 or andria.klinger[at]emeraldexpo.com for more information.
