Ironman Nice has sold out once again, breaking previous records. The 2,800 entries available for the 2014 race were scooped up three months earlier than a year ago. The iconic event is popular with local and in-bound international triathletes, with its stunning location in the heart of the Cote d’Azur and its views of the Mediterranean Sea.
Meanwhile, hot on the heels of a record sell-out of Ironman Nice, the 2014 Ironman South Africa event is the latest race to sell out.
Closely following Ironman 70.3 South Africa 2014, which is held in Buffalo City, RSA, on 26 January, the full distance Ironman South Africa event is a main season opener for Ironman’s Europe, Middle East and Africa region. The event is held in Port Elizabeth, Nelson Mandela Bay on 6 April 2014.
Nice in Nice
Over 60% of athletes who will run along the prestigious ‘Promenade des Anglais’ next June at Ironman Nice are from outside of France, confirming the event’s status as one of Ironman’s most popular destination races.
After a two-loop swim, athletes take on one of the most famous bike rides in the sport. The route passes through many mountain villages during the 5,000 feet of climbing and includes numerous stunning panoramic views.
The four-loop run course follows a path alongside the beach and is jam-packed with spectators.
