London Triathlon named Commercial Event of the Year

The London Triathlon was named Commercial Event of the Year at the annual Triathlon England, London Region Awards evening, held at Twickenham Rowing club on Saturday 2 November. The award helped to cap off a successful twelve months for ‘the world’s largest triathlon’.

The event is organised by IMG Challenger World, the mass participation sport division of IMG Worldwide, the global sports, fashion and media company.

Among several athletes, clubs and events who were also rewarded for their 2013 triumphs, The London Triathlon, which attracts 13,000 participants each year for the two day event, was awarded the prestigious prize by the Triathlon England, London Region Committee ahead of several other strong contenders.

With registrations currently on sale for 2014, the event has sold over half of entries in record time with participants signing up from all over the world – including New York, Mexico, Europe, Canada and Brazil – and a diverse range of ages from 18 to 75 years old.

James Robinson, Managing Director of event organisers IMG Challenger World, said “It‘s always nice to receive plaudits and recognition for your efforts and it’s great to be named Commercial Event of the Year by the Triathlon England London Region Committee following everyone’s hard work throughout the year that made the event so successful.”

He continued, “Over the last 10 years the London Triathlon has grown into the largest event of its kind, and with demand for the sport continuing to increase, the future is extremely exciting for this event.”
