While the 2014 Winter Olympics may be under way in Sochi, Russia, the world’s top winter triathletes will take to the snow in Cogne, Italy, this coming weekend. A group of hardy winter triathletes will be at the 2014 Cogne ITU Winter Triathlon World Championships to vie for a chance to call themselves the fastest athletes on foot, bike and skis.
Held on 15-16 February 2014, this is the second consecutive year the Italian city and the Italian Triathlon Federation FITRI have welcomed the championships.
Elite and Under23 world titles are up for grabs over a 6K run, 12K mountain bike and 9K ski course, with junior and paratriathletes set to battle over shortened distances of the same course at the 2014 Cogne ITU Winter Triathlon World Championships.
Schedule
Racing will get underway on Saturday 15 February with the elite men’s and women’s events. The junior athletes will set off at 09:00 local time; while the elite women will head out at 11:00, followed by the elite men at 13:00.
Age groupers, paratriathletes and mixed team relay entrants will take to the course on Sunday for a shot at the chance to become World Champions beginning at 09:00.
