THESE GIRLS ARE MACHINES is a two-week-long celebration of the female cyclist from 14-28 May in the San Francisco Bay Area. The event features a pop-up shop by women’s cycling brand Machines For Freedom, an art gallery presented by Fast Chance Collective showcasing pieces by five local women artists and cyclists, and many other events and group rides designed to help carve out a space for women riders.

Filthy Friday Group Ride

A Free Coffee Friday at Mission Workshop at 10:00, riders roll at 10:15 sharp! Those taking a CX or MTB can be prepared for about 2 hours of shredding GGP & Sutro Forest. (‘Dudes are welcome for this ride, but women set the tone and pace.’)
Machines Ladies Ride
Saturday, May 16 – 09:00
The first installment of Machines monthly ride in the Bay Area. On the third Saturday of every month groups will take on varying routes in Marin County, usually tackling about 4000′ in 40 miles. For the inaugural outing, riders will head out to Muir Woods and Tennessee Valley, with an option dirt route home. Meet at City + County Bicycle Company at 08:45 for a 9:00 rollout. The group will then head to Equator Coffee to pick up any Mill Valley joiners between 09:30 and 09:45.
Screening: Half The Road
Thursday, May 28 – 19:00-22:00; screening at 20:00.
At Mission Workshop there will be a special screening of Half the Road, a documentary about ‘the inequalities that exist in the peloton between male and female professionals.’
