Events.com, the event management platform that ‘facilitates and enhances the experience of hosting and attending events’, has announced today that it has completed a funding round. Led by Arctaris and with participation from La Jolla Holding and Moore Venture Partners, this brings the total funding for the company to over US$17 million.
Additionally, the company has announced the acquisition of EventsOnline, an online registration provider serving the endurance market and processing over US$150 million in registrations and tickets since inception.
“Events.com is dedicated to providing a world class platform for event organizers and event goers alike,” said Gregg Parise, CEO of Events.com. “This additional funding is a great boost to the long-term growth of our company. We are pleased to work with Arctaris and we plan to use this funding to further expand operations.”
Over the last year, Events.com has grown its staff to over 75 people. Building on this momentum, Events.com will continue to deploy resources to ‘accelerate product growth and innovation, invest in additional sales and marketing resources, and continue evaluating strategic acquisition opportunities.’
Having unveiled its mobile-first cloud-based applications for event organizers in February, Events.com has built momentum with a number of key hires:
- In early February, Events.com confirmed that former ACTIVE Network executive Steve Mazza had joined the company as Director of Sales
- And, in late December 2014, Events.com confirmed that former ACTIVE exec and the ‘Voice of Ironman’ Mike Reilly had joined the company as Executive Vice President of Global Sales.
“Events.com provides an impressively scalable platform and we are thrilled to partner with the team as they continue to add new clients,” said Jonathan Tower, General Partner of ARV Capital Partners and Arctaris Capital Partners.
“We were immediately attracted to the management team, which has a significant personal equity investment in the company, and they were attracted to us because of our approach to growth capital investment.”
Investors in Events.com include Tomorrow Ventures, Chris Burch via Burch Creative Capital, Silverstein Properties President Tal Kerret, DLA Piper Venture Fund and Wilson Sonsini Investment Company.
“The acquisition of EventsOnline complements our strategy to expand our client base in the endurance space,” said Greg Spillane, Chief Operating Officer of Events.com. “We remain committed to becoming the global leader in the industry and this acquisition helps us to achieve that goal.”
