The 2015 CEP BallBuster, which will take place on Saturday 7 November, is now a complete sell-out. The 26 year old event will once again be held at its traditional home of Box Hill, Surrey. This ultra-tough duathlon has maintained a reputation over the past three decades as an extreme test of endurance, with competitors asked to cover 40 miles of running/cycling/running in one morning.
The participants who have signed up to attempt the CEP BallBuster will start their challenge with an eight mile undulating run taking in beautiful scenery around the National Trust site. Once they have returned to the top it’s into transition for a quick switch over to the cycle leg.
This follows the same 8 mile route, which everybody must complete a muscle-draining three times. There’s no time to celebrate when that’s completed though – as one final eight mile lap by foot is required before crossing the finish line. As the organizing team point out, it’s ‘a truly colossal task only to be attempted by the most hardy, or foolish.’
Nick Rusling, CEO of event organiser Human Race, said “The CEP BallBuster is a firm part of our heritage and I’m delighted that there is still such demand for this classic of the genre. The events scene has changed tremendously over the past 26 years but the CEP BallBuster sticks to the same basic principles as when it started all those years ago.”
The BallBuster has been running since 1990, when it was one of the very first events conceived by Human Race. It is known to many as a bucket-list event, ‘one that must be attempted at least once in a lifetime and a true mark of multi-sport achievement.’
This year CEP Sports UK & Ireland, which offers a range of ‘intelligent sportswear’, has become title sponsor of the event.
Those who missed out on securing a place in this year’s event can guarantee a spot in 2016 by signing up to the Human Race Off-Road Series. Anybody who signs up for all three events in the trail running and duathlon series will be given priority entry into the 2016 CEP BallBuster.
