Tri-California Events has announced a continued partnership deal with Sierra Nevada Brewing Co, for the 2016 Wildflower Triathlon Festival. According to the companies, ‘This collaboration will bring thousands of athletes, fans, and campers the opportunity to celebrate their accomplishments with Otra Vez – a newly-released refreshing brew – at the legendary three-day festival,’ held at Lake San Antonio in Bradley, California, on 29 April to 1 May.
“Wildflower is a special experience, so we’re thrilled to be on board for the fourth straight year as a partner and simply as fans,” said Rob DeKeyrel, Sierra Nevada’s National Events Manager. “Cycling and adventure are at the roots of our brewery, making it a real privilege to cheer on this incredible group of athletes. There’s so much energy at Wildflower and a sense of community, and we can’t wait to be back in the thick of it.”
Athletes and fans will have the opportunity to toast their training with Sierra Nevada’s new brew Otra Vez, which means ‘another time’. For Wildflower and Sierra Nevada ‘that time is early California when beers and triathlon were made from local ingredients.’
Otra Vez combines prickly pear cactus and with a hint of grapefruit creating a refreshing gose-style ale. This will accompany the event; as, since 1983, the Wildflower Triathlon Festival has been dubbed the Woodstock of triathlons, combining thousands of athletes, spectators, vendors, and live bands throughout the Lake San Antonio Resort and Marina.
“Wildflower and Sierra Nevada have a common thread of passion, innovation and intrepid spirit,” said Colleen Bousman, President of Tri-California Events. “Wildflower’s unique atmosphere of community and celebration, is a perfect pairing with the refreshing new Otra Vez craft brew.”
What began as a small-scale bluegrass festival and triathlon, The Wildflower Triathlons have since grown into an annual event, attracting thousands of participants and spectators to the three-day multisport festival. Over the years, the event has created a passionate and dedicated following amongst triathlon enthusiasts, many of whom flock to the California central coast each year to soak in the intimate setting.
As Tri-California adds, ‘The race is not only a triathlon but a complete festival weekend on the Central Coast.’
In addition to the Wildflower Triathlons’ marquee Long Course, the three-day triathlon festival also includes an all-new on-road Sprint triathlon. This race will add to the existing line up of an off-road Sprint triathlon, an Olympic distance, a Long Course and Collegiate Championship triathlon.
Sierra Nevada is considered one of the earliest and most influential breweries, which spawned the craft beer movement of the 80s-90s and has endured to become one of the largest independent brewers in the United States. As an official sponsor, Sierra Nevada will offer a refreshing beer garden, activities and beer samples during the festival.
