The main event begins in Oceanside, California, travels 3,000 miles with 170,000 vertical feet of climbing, and finishes in Annapolis, Maryland. Competitors can enter the race solo, or on 2-, 4- and 8-Person relay teams. Many racers also raise money for charitable causes, collectively leading to more than US$2 million donated annually.
