Polar has announced Smart Notifications and compatibility with the Polar Balance connected smart scale for its Polar A300. The A300 is a waterproof fitness watch and tracker designed to make consumers move and achieve more by tracking training, sleep and daily activity – counting steps, distance and burned calories.
It also motivates the user to reach a daily activity goal by reminding to move, using a gentle vibration when the user has been inactive for too long.
With the new update, Polar A300 becomes an even more integral part of the users’ day. Smart Notifications allow users to get alerts about incoming calls, messages and notifications from apps onto their Polar A300. Users will get the same notifications on their Polar A300 that they get on their phone screen. Smart notifications are available for both iOS and Android.
When combined, Polar A300, Balance and Polar Flow app and web service provide ‘a complete solution to help users stay active and reach and maintain their goal weight’. Polar Flow tailors activity goals to an individual’s needs, and Polar A300 helps to provide appropriate motivation and guidance.
To begin, users set a target weight and timeframe in Polar Flow. Users then weigh themselves periodically and sync their information with Polar Flow or Polar A300 via Bluetooth Smart. Polar Flow will provide personalized guidance by calculating and adjusting daily activity goals that users can then follow via their A300. The Polar Flow app also offers insight into progress, and motivational feedback to keep users on track with a balanced lifestyle.
The Polar Flow web service also offers a window into a person’s fitness and training diary. If training with a coach or personal trainer, Polar Flow for Coach offers additional training support, as users can connect and share workout information via the web service and receive feedback from their coaches. The A300 also works with Polar Club, allowing users to train with club instructors and view live heart rate data during fitness classes.
The A300 is available now in Charcoal Black, Powder White, Sorbet Pink, or Mellow Yellow for US$99.95 at Polar.com. Interchangeable bands in additional colour variants such as Storm Grey and Indigo Blue are available for US$24.95 each.
