Amaury Sport Organisation (ASO) has reported record participation numbers at its 2016 running events to date, including the Fitbit Semi de Paris, the Run In Marseille, the Schneider Electric Marathon de Paris, the L’Equipe 10km and the Marathon de la baie du Mont-Saint-Michel.

In total, nearly 150,000 runners took part in one of these five major events on the French sporting calendar. On Sunday 29 May, the L’Equipe 10km confirmed its status as one of the most popular 10km races in the country, with more than 21,000 participants. On the same day, almost 10,000 runners took part in one of the five events on the Marathon de la baie du Mont-Saint-Michel programme.

The first registration phase for the 2017 Schneider Electric Marathon de Paris, now closed, has allowed nearly 21,000 runners to confirm their participation in next year’s edition, held on 9 April 2017.

Of the 21,000 runners who have already entered the event, the average age stands at 42, 27% are females and 35% are planning to run their first marathon on the day.

The second registration phase will open on 6 September.

Upcoming ASO events include the Run In Lyon on 2 October and the Run in Reims on 9 October. Both road races offer runners a choice of three distances: 10km, half marathon and marathon.
