Over 10,000 competitors have snapped up their race numbers for the sold-out third edition of Run in Marseille, scheduled for Sunday 20 March. It is a new record for Run in Marseille, which coincides with the beginning of spring this year and consolidates its position as one of the major sports events on the Mediterranean coast.
Run in Marseille ties in with the other ‘Run In’ events, organised by Amaury Sports Organisation (ASO) in Lyon and Reims, featuring three main distances of road running: a marathon, a half marathon and a 10K race.
The fast, scenic courses of the three races will take competitors around Marseille’s most iconic landmarks. Marathon runners will start their 42.195 km trek in Les Calanques before heading to Parc Borély, La Cannebière and La Corniche. All three races share a finale in the Old Port.
The field of the Run in Marseille 10K race confirms a trend seen in other ASO running events, featuring 50% of women. As ASO points out, this represents ‘a display of parity and spectacular proof of female runners’ fervour for the basic distance of road running.’
