Now in its seventh year, Dengie Events has put together another schedule of Essex based triathlons and cycle rides for UK endurance athletes in 2017. The event organiser adds that there is a race to cater for beginners and pros alike. Entries are now open at dengieevents.co.uk.
First up, the Big East Triathlon takes place on 21 May 2017 in Bradwell-on-Sea, Essex. This popular event gives entrants a choice of Middle Distance (1.6km swim / 82km cycle / 20km run) or Challenge Distance (800m swim / 43km cycle / 10km run) and is open to individual athletes and relay teams. Set in ‘an ideal location for triathlon and attracting competitors from all over the world, it is well suited to anyone aiming to get fit or in search of a new challenge’.
The Tour of the Dengie cycle rides take place alongside the Big East Triathlon on 21 May 2017 in Bradwell-on-Sea, Essex. There are two distances to choose from: the Sportive (82km) or the Fun Ride (43km). On the ride, cyclists will pass through small towns and villages with traditional weatherboard homes, negotiate the Burnham Bends and experience a unique and varied course over the marshes.
The Fambridge Yacht Haven Half Iron Triathlon takes place on 2 July 2017 in North Fambridge, Essex. This welcoming and friendly middle distance event sees entrants take on a 1.9km river swim next to Blue House Farm Nature Reserve, 90km cycle in the Essex countryside and an 18km run around North Fambridge village.
The Maldon Triathlon takes place on 30 July 2017 and race organiser Dengie Events is expecting entries for this event, in particular, to fill fast. The beginner friendly Maldon Triathlon is based around tPromenade Park and Hythe Quay over the Sprint (750m swim / 28km cycle / 5km run) and Olympic (1.5km swim / 45km cycle / 10km run) distances. With plenty of facilities for the family, activities throughout the day and a variety of cafes lining the route, the event always ‘draws a large crowd of spectators and provides a great atmosphere for all’.
