With plenty to see and do at this year’s events – the London Bike Show, Outdoor Adventure & Camping Show and Oceans Festival, alongside the Triathlon Show: London, are aiming to offer ‘families, cyclists, athletes, outdoor enthusiasts and adventurers of all ages a great day out’. The four shows in one large venue are coming to London’s ExCel this UK school half term on 16-19 February, with a ticket to any of the shows giving access to all.
The London Bike Show is billed as the UK’s largest bike show and boasts a wealth of guest speakers such as track cycling legend, Olympian Sir Chris Hoy and Britain’s most decorated female Paralympian Dame Sarah Storey. The show boasts a 500m test track and dedicated kids test track to try out the latest bikes from well-known brands such as Islabikes and Street Velodrome – and a mini banked racing track with three times World Champion BMX and two times World Champion Team Pursuit track rider Shanaze Reade.
In addition, Air to the Throne, the UK’s biggest freestyle mountain bike competition gives the public a chance to see some of the world’s best mountain bike riders go head to head and pull off ‘their most daring and awe inspiring tricks’; and Action Sports Tour will wow the crowds with BMX, scooter, roller blading and free running demonstrations.
Multiple World Champion Mark Foster will be appearing at the Performance Theatre, the hub of Triathlon Show: London, and will host some of the ‘biggest and most influential names that the sport has to offer’. As well as a Q&A with Foster, who will be sharing his insights into the world of competitive swimming and explaining what it takes to reach the top, speakers include Rio Olympics Bronze medallist and 2-time World Mixed Team Champion Vicky Holland alongside UK nutrition brand High5. In her talk, Vicky will tell her story, share some top tips and describe her Olympic podium experience.
The Outdoor Adventure & Camping Show introduces the Adventure Theatre where inspiring and knowledgeable guest speakers – such as adventurer Laura Bingham, who cycled 7,000km across the continent of South America in 2016 to Nick Spellman, aka Animal Man – gives educational talks as well as hands-on interaction. Survival Camp is where ex-British Special Forces soldier Bob Podesta and the ‘A’ Squadron will be teaching essential survival skills such as navigating, trap setting and Morse code.
The Adventure Playground plays host to a multi-sided rock climbing wall for young mountaineers, 90ft of realistic tunnels for underground explorers to get a feel for adventuring and a chance to try out slacklining for the first time and discover a new hobby.
The Oceans Theatre at Oceans Festival is positioned as a great opportunity to learn about all things aquatic with guest speakers, underwater experts, conservationists and scientists giving interesting and educational talks.
A ticket to either the London Bike Show, Triathlon Show: London, the Outdoor Adventure & Camping Show or Oceans Festival will also gain visitors entry into the three other events which are running simultaneously.
