Orbea aims to make gains with new eRoad range

Orbea Gain eRoad

Orbea’s new Gain range – encompassing eRoad, eAllroad and eUrban bikes – is designed to ‘enhance your ride, not dominate it’. The Spanish bike manufacturer is offering up what is being billed as ‘an exceptionally lightweight, sportive and rideable bike – a machine that heeds the call of the open road.’

Orbea points out that it had a number of objectives with its new Gain range:

  • Sportive feel assisted bike
  • Sportive and regular bike appearance
  • As light as possible: 13kg goal
  • Enable good feeling over 25 km/h
  • Real standing up pedalling output
  • 100 km real autonomy / 1500m altitude
  • Price under control (€2,000 – 3,000)
  • Enough power concept
  • Reliable and efficient product

According to Orbea, ‘Gain embraces your sweat and hard work and works in unison with your efforts to tick off the kilometers. System interfaces are modern, integrated and sleek. There are no bulky components to reduce the riding experience, distractions have been minimized so it’s just you, Gain and the hours ahead.’

A release from Orbea adds that the company believes in making improvements for future generations…

We feel responsible for creating sustainability and we’re actively working to provide mobility solutions in cities and to increase access to cycling as a sport.

We want to make bicycles as accessible, useful and efficient as possible. We’re developing platforms to minimize all of the potential excuses: the hills, the bad weather, the hazards of the road, the sweat, the fatigue, not being able to ride as hard as before… What would happen if we no longer had any excuses?

What would we say to an electric bicycle that does not seem like one? What would we think about a bicycle with invisible wiring and batteries, but highly visible and usable features? And what if this bicycle is also . . . sexy?

Thanks to technological innovations, we are at the dawn of a new era. A time when cycling lovers will gain more satisfaction from their outings, find it easier to get around and will enjoy even bigger adventures.

Orbea is part of the Mondragón Cooperative Corporation and is Spain’s largest bicycle operator. Orbea bike frames are manufactured in Asia and finished in Spain – with the brand shipped worldwide.

In 2011, Orbea further cemented its relationship with Orca – the wetsuit and apparel tri brand. Heralding from New Zealand, Orca is part of the Orbea family – with Orbea and Orca reaching an agreement in 2011 for Spanish Orbea to acquire Orca’s ‘operation rights in the triathlon and compression area.’ This deal gave Orbea global rights to the Orca brand, following ‘four years of fruitful relations’ between the two companies.
