Triathlon Business International (TBI), the industry organization dedicated to promoting the sport and business of triathlon, has today announced that IRONMAN CEO Andrew Messick will join USA Triathlon CEO Rocky Harris and Congresswoman Kyrsten Sinema as a key speaker for the 8th Annual TBI Conference, taking place on 26-28 January in Tempe, Arizona. Messick will be part of the Friday afternoon program.

Andrew Messick has been President & CEO of IRONMAN since 2011. During his tenure, IRONMAN has more than doubled both the number of races globally and the total number of unique athletes. In 2018, IRONMAN expects there to be 43 full distance races and more than 115 IRONMAN 70.3 races in 50 countries.

In an October 2017 Forbes interview, Messick stated that “triathlon is still a growth industry, particularly when you look at the number of people participating in swim, bike, run sports globally.” In recent years IRONMAN has pioneered new operational capabilities along with ways to engage and interact with athletes around the world. IRONMAN now claims to be the world’s largest organizer of mass participation events in the world with nearly 500 employees in 25 offices in 16 countries.

“As the organizer of more than 200 triathlon events in 50 countries worldwide, we have a vital stake in the wellness of the sport,” said Messick. “We are committed to the growth of triathlon and will continue to work with like-minded parties to achieve that end. We are looking forward to a promising future and I am honored to be able to join TBI for this important annual conference.”
