Just three weeks after ÖTILLÖ, the Swimrun World Championship 2019 took place in the Swedish archipelago, the swimrun season continues at ÖTILLÖ 1000 Lakes in Germany.
The event is sited around 70km north east of Berlin. It will be the fifth ÖTILLÖ Swimrun World Series weekend of the year, and it offers up a chance to qualify to ÖTILLÖ, the Swimrun World Championship 2020 – taking place in September next year.
ÖTILLÖ 1000 Lakes takes on the landscape of Mecklenburger Seenplatte. The area has more than 3000 fresh-water lakes with ‘very clean water’. The area will host its fourth ÖTILLÖ Swimrun weekend, and more than 400 athletes from close to 20 nations are scheduled to compete.
On Saturday, September 21st the organising team will host a number of shorter races. These are aimed at making the sport accessible to more people and to let newcomers experience swimrun.
The Experience distance is 8.3 km with four swim sections totalling 1560m. This race distance can be done either in teams of two or solo.
The Sprint eludes to the distance and not to the speed. It is a total of 16.9km with six swim sections totalling 2810m. Again, his race distance can either be undertaken in teams of two or solo.
On Sunday, September 22nd we have the World Series event gets under way. This acts as a Qualifier to the 2020 ÖTILLÖ World Championship and is where teams can collect ranking points. The World Series even is a total of 42.2 km, with 10 swim sections totalling 7560m. This race can only be undertaken in a team of two.
ÖTILLÖ Swimrun 1000 Lakes is part of the ÖTILLÖ Swimrun World Series and is a qualifier to ÖTILLÖ, the Swimrun World Championship in the Swedish archipelago. The ÖTILLÖ Swimrun World Series is in its fourth season with a minimum of seven qualifier races for the ÖTILLÖ Swimrun World Championship.
