Swedish apparel firm Seger is ‘aiming to take passionate athletes to a new level with the launch of new Seger Sense socks, made from waste from the textile industry, which would otherwise have just been thrown away.’
Seger is a Swedish brand (part of New Wave Group AB) with a history and tradition that dates back all the way to 1947. Seger Sense socks are made from recycled polyamide. The company claims to reduce resource consumption in the socks’ manufacturing process by 85-96% in comparison with traditional yarn.
“We’ve been at the forefront of knitting since 1947,” said Susanne Segerqvist who manages product design at Seger. “That’s more than 65 years of creative evolution and technical progress, which further develops opportunities for improving athletes’ results.
“Seger Sense has been evolving for over 20 years and is our most technically accomplished collection of socks – so far. Thanks to innovative solutions and special knits (compression lab tested; sophisticated functional design; knitted in high-tech materials), all socks in the range have features that minimise chafing and maximise comfort, and which also help your muscles recover after a hard workout.”
Per Segerqvist, Seger’s CEO, continued “Our socks have always been made in Sweden. Our factory in Röshult is powered entirely by certified clean wind power. That way, we save on transport and energy.
“Committed to renewable energy, Seger is the green leader in Sweden. We have over 70 years’ experience and a history and expertise that make us humble about the future. Our goal has always been to create sustainable products that can withstand years of use. Now, we’ve managed to produce socks that use almost 90% less resources in manufacturing too.”
He added, “Giving the body you inhabit what it deserves is your personal responsibility. Giving the planet we live on the same care is something we must all do together. As a team. It is all about leaving the smallest possible footprint behind us. For the next generation, and the generation after that.
“At Seger we make active choices to identify climate- smart options. By producing top-quality socks that last for mile after mile, we can contribute to reduced consumption. Caring about our planet – about each other and about athlete’s feet.”
