Rescheduled Mallorca 312 forced to cancel

The Mallorca 312 sportive/gran fondo in Spain has been ‘cancelled by force majeure, as a result of health developments.’

The cycling race, initially scheduled for April 26 and postponed to October 10, had been adapted with health protocols, which in addition to ensuring all necessary safety measures indicated by the health authorities, included carrying out tests for all participants.

However, the evolution of the international Covid-19 pandemic has forced many foreign participants to cancel their flights, alongside the closure of hotels and travel restrictions from governments. In addition, at a local level in Spain, where infections have multiplied, conditions have made it impossible to carry out the event.

“The growth in the number of cases and the new restrictions make it impossible to guarantee the safety of the participants and the citizens of Mallorca, and that is our number one priority,” said Xisco Lliteras, CEO of Mallorca 312.

The organizing team is preparing a digital platform where participants can access and request a refund or have the option to transfer their registration to the 2021 edition of the race.

In addition, the organisers are working on the calendar of the Milestone Series cycling events for 2021, with venues in Germany, Sweden, the United Kingdom and Mallorca in the pipeline. Registration is scheduled to open this autumn/fall.
