Starting in 2021, a ‘growing consortium of race directors from coast to coast’ across the USA are able to utilize the California Triathlon endorsed Race Director Insurance Program to insure their triathlons.
According to non-profit race organiser California Triathlon, the new offering is ‘good news for race directors and their athletes.’
Features include:
- An insurance product that meets or exceeds almost all municipal requirements in 50 US states
- Athletes pay significantly lower insurance fees, at US$2.50 per participant
- Race directors keep their athlete data 100% safe from being harvested
- Does not require significant technical integration
“Race directors are eager for a product similar to the USA Track & Field (USATF) insurance model,” said Thom Richmond, Founder at California Triathlon.
“This is a comprehensive product at a modest fee and no loss of consumer data to third parties. It puts race directors back in control.”
Cal Tri Events adds that it has enjoyed a seamless experience with this type of insurance for a few years. Following interest from other race directors, the California Triathlon team set out on a mission to create an affiliate program that could be used in all 50 US states.
The insurance affiliate program includes general liability, non-owned/hired auto liability and excess accident coverage. California Triathlon points out that it is not making any profit from any race director that chooses to sign up with the new race insurance offering.
