In the coming months, Star Events will announce more destinations and events for 2012 and 2013, and confirm the date for TriStar Madrid with the brand new T5 format (a team of five triathletes racing together, with drafting allowed between the members of the same team). The date of TriStar Sardinia will also follow soon.
The new events and formats follow the disappointment that TriStar Berlin will not be part of the 2012 TriStar calendar as the co-organizers SCC Events and Star Events decided to end their collaboration. This was by mutual agreement and both companies will continue with separate triathlon formats in the future under their own steam.
“We have created a few new events coming along for 2012 on the TriStar Series and mostly for the format 111, but normally accompanied by 55.5 or 33.3,” said Georg Hochegger, CEO of Star Production SARL. “We are bringing unique destinations in France, Cannes and Deauville, a new race in the UK in Milton Keynes close to London and also a new race in Austria for the first time in a natural paradise as Salzkammergut. We are trying to net our series across Europe as well to have some leads to the US as well,” he added.
For 2012, TriStar is attracting triathletes to its ‘new fun and easy recovery format’. The international TriStar triathlon series will host more than 25 triathlon races all over the world in 2012. There are 14 destinations already announced as TriStar host cities and ‘there is more to come in the next [few] weeks.’
TriStar will organize 13 TriStar111 events and many other shorter races such as TriStar55.5, TriStar33.3 and TriStar11.1. The most successful format of this international brand, TriStar111 (1K swimming, 100K biking and 10K running) will be once again the ‘real star of the season’. For some of the races, Star Events will also announce a pro prize purse in the coming weeks. All TriStar tri distances have been officially recognized by the International Triathlon Union (ITU).

The season starts early in March with TriStar Nevis in the Caribbean, one of the first triathlon races in the world. TriStar Mallorca (Spain) and TriStar Cannes (France) bring the new season to Europe. At the end of May and in the beginning of June, Central Europe will enjoy three competitions in Split (Croatia), Salzkammergut (Austria) and Worms-Germany.
Deauville and Lyon on 17 June and 8 July complete the burgeoning TriStar offer in France. At the end of July, Milton Keynes will host the first TriStar in the United Kingdom, a few days before the Olympic Games. In August, the TriStar Series comes to Estonia, with a triathlon festival, and will also be present for the second year in the United States in Minnesota. The last event in the season is TriStar Monaco, the ‘Formula 1 of triathlon’.
The TriStar label is owned by Star Production SARL, the Monaco based company specializing in organizing high quality sports events that are focused on fun, social responsibility and environmental protection.
