MAAP has launched the latest phase of its OffCuts program, an initiative from the Australian apparel company that seeks to reduce its environmental impact.
Following an initial launch in 2021, the OffCuts Program takes excess fabrics from previous production runs of MAAP’s jerseys, and repurposes them. MAAP has continued this program into its second year with a new multi-colourway in the brand’s signature style, the Evade Pro Base Jersey. The new OffCuts products will be available in short and long sleeves for both men and women.
While the OffCuts Program presents a way in which customers can participate in MAAP’s efforts to make its products more sustainable, the company is also devoting more effort. By choosing and processing raw materials, selecting manufacturing processes and considering its products’ end-life cycle, MAAP adds that it is seeking to lead the industry on low-environmental impact cycling apparel.
New for the 2022 OffCuts Program, each jersey features a handwritten label indicating its unique position in the production run.
“Our continued commitment to leaving behind a better planet than the one we inherited is manifested in the OffCuts Program,” said Ollie Cousins, MAAP’s co-founder. “But that’s just the tip of the iceberg; we’re also continually looking at every facet of our business to make sure that wherever we can, we’re operating in the most responsible way.”
The OffCuts Program Evade Pro Base Jersey is available online in limited quantities via maap.cc and from select MAAP retailers.
