The Giro d’Italia Virtual ENEL is a virtual cycling experience, created by BKOOL and RCS Sport. The series allows participants to compete on virtual routes from the last edition of Italy’s Grand Tour.
The event is held on the BKOOL virtual cycling platform, and the first two rounds have reportedly brought together over 7000 cyclists from all over the world.
On Monday, January 16, 2023, round three of the virtual cycling event got underway. The event remains open to all cycling fans across the world to take part. To ride on stages of the Giro d’Italia Virtual, participants need a cycling smart trainer or a smart bike, and a BKOOL subscription. A 30 day BKOOL free trial is available for new participants
Round three includes:
- Stage 1 (From January 16-22) : Budapest – Visegrád
- Stage 2 (From January 23-29): Napoli
- Stage 3 (From January 30 to February 5): Passo Fedaia Part 2
- Stage 4 (From February 6-12): Santarcangelo di Romagna – Reggio Emilia
- Stage 5 (From February 13-19): Rivarolo Canavese – Cogne Part 1
All of the routes correspond to sections of stages from the 2022 edition of the Giro d’Italia, with HD video images and 3D elements fused together for an immersive experience.
Event participants will be able take part in special prize draws – with prizes including cycling nutrition, and event VIP tickets for real-world RCS Sport races, such as Milano Sanremo or the Giro d’Italia 2023.
Cyclists such as Alberto Contador, Chris Froome and riders from the Soudal Quick-Step team will also be part of the virtual challenge, sharing training sessions with cycling fans.
