On June 25, 2023, five IRONMAN World Champions – Patrick Lange, Anne Haug, Sebastian Kienle, Daniela Ryf and Chelsea Sodaro – will compete at DATEV Challenge Roth powered by hep.
Other notable elite triathletes heading to Roth in Germany include: Magnus Ditlev, Andi Dreitz and Nils Frommhold, as well as Laura Philipp will make her debut at the ‘the world’s largest long distance triathlon’.
Following the recent, new points system announcement by the Professional Triathletes Organisation (PTO), for the new PTO Ranking, Challenge Roth now sits in the same category as the IRONMAN 70.3 World Championships and the World Triathlon Long Distance World Championships.
Felix Walchshöfer, Race Director at DATEV Challenge Roth, said “The new PTO ranking system shows the worldwide importance of DATEV Challenge Roth powered by hep.
“We are very proud the race is ranked as a platinum race by the PTO. More than virtually any other race, the athletes in Roth have an outstanding opportunity to collect a high number of points for the world rankings.”
PTO’s Anthony Scammel added “The impressive field announced for Roth this year underlines the race’s inclusion in the platinum tier of the PTO world ranking system.”
The DATEV Challenge Roth event organising team is also increasing the prize money at this year’s event – distributed equally between men and women. In total, the organisers will pay out €125,000 euros in prize money and performance bonuses.
The prize money alone will increase from €62,000 to €74,500. For ambitious age groupers there will still be the Sub 9 or Sub 10 classification, in which fastest men and women will get their entry fee back.

- Diamond (PTO Tour races, Collins Cup, IRONMAN World Championships),
- Platinum (IRONMAN 70.3 World Championships, Challenge Roth, World Triathlon Long Distance World Championships)
- Gold (most IM & 70.3 Regional Championships, Challenge Family The Championship, Clash Daytona)
- Silver (most Challenge Family events, many IRONMAN 70.3 and IRONMAN races, Clash Miami, some independent races)
- Bronze (some Challenge Family events, smaller independent races)
