Leading UK specialist bike retailer, Evans Cycles, has added support to mountain biking in the UK with its sponsorship of the GT Bicycles Malverns Classic Festival.
The Malverns Classic Festival, takes place on August 24-27, 2023, in Ledbury, Herefordshire, attracting over 7,000 riders, spectators, fans and brands from across the sport.
The ‘Evans Cycles Lake Ride’ will see invited cyclists race on parallel tracks which float and bob over 100m on an on-site lake. It is seen as a spectacle for the final day of the event weekend, and attracts crowds eager to see who gets wet and who is the ultimate lake champion.
Russell Merry, Managing Director of Evans Cycles said “This partnership was a natural fit for us. We’re here to share our passion for all things bike related, with riders of all ages and abilities. In the UK mountain bike scene – there is no better representation of that goal than the Malverns Classics.”
The event includes UCI recognized races where riders can be crowned a downhill British Cycling National Champion, alongside a Pump Track, eBike Challenge and more. Young riders also have the opportunity to become a Balance Bike World Champion.
As part of the collaboration, Evans Cycles will be running a schedule of promotions for the festival across its store network… ‘Utilising its reach to introduce new riders to the sport and the event.’
Si Paton, Director of GT Bicycles Malverns Classic, added “There really is nothing like the Malverns in the UK which is why we’re seeing such great interest year on year.
“It’s a spectator event with a party atmosphere and the live entertainment where we invite ticket holders to bring their own bikes to ride the trails in between official races. We’re thrilled to have Evans Cycles on board; and, working with them, we are planning on making 2023 the biggest and best yet.”
