ASICS has launched a new trail running campaign highlighting the calming power of trail running on the mind. The campaign also marks the launch of the brand’s latest trail running range, highlighting the FUJI SPEED 2 shoe which has received updates since its original introduction in 2022.
Back to its roots
With ASICS’ roots in Japan, the new shoe & apparel collection names take inspiration from Mount Fuji. The new campaign portrays the calmness of the Japanese landscape combined with the speed of local trail runner Makino Hideaki, portrayed in the film.

FUJI SPEED 2
The FUJI SPEED 2 shoe has seen its original PEBAX plate replaced with a full-length carbon TPU plate, delivering a more dynamic toe off and increased lateral stability. The midsole material has also received an overhaul and now features FF BLAST PLUS foam to deliver a ‘more lightweight and energetic running experience.’
The updated woven upper combined with a gusseted and lightly padded tongue helps with a midfoot lockdown. In addition to lowering the possibility of debris getting into the shoe, it also offers comfort during trail runs.
ASICS Senior Product Marketing Specialist Magdalena Gassebner said “For the second edition of this silhouette, we’ve taken a lot of inspiration from our MAGIC SPEED road running shoe.
“Our ambition was to bring the superiority of our road shoes to the trails. By adding the carbon plate and FF BLAST PLUS midsole, we have created a shoe that is ideal for picking up the pace while not compromising on comfort or grip.
“Our athletes have tested this over and over as part of the development phase, and with Stian Angermund becoming World Champion in Short Trail in June wearing the FUJI SPEED 2 shoe, we’re excited to launch this new edition, enabling everyone to speed up on their trail runs.”
Launching alongside the FUJI SPEED 2 is the latest FUJITRAIL Apparel Collection, designed to move with the runner’s body and limit resistance for fast trail runs.
Key items of the collection include the FUJITRAIL Jacket which offers waterproof protection and can be packed away in its own hood for easy storability. To help runners keep cool and increase breathability, the FUJITRAIL top and shorts feature ASICS’ own ACTIBREEZE technology and quick-drying fabrics.
The entire FUJITRAIL collection features reflective elements to help improve visibility in low-light conditions.
