The next edition of the Triathlon de Portocolom, in Mallorca, Spain, to be held on April 14, 2024, has renewed branding in tandem with a boost to the event’s environmental care policy.
Held each year in April, the Triathlon de Portocolom is one of the earliest races in the European tri season. The event celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2023.
The new branding maintains the Portocolom lighthouse as the event emblem. It incorporates blue colouring to showcase the area’s clear waters. There is also a side-aim of raising awareness and respect for the marine environment in the Balearic Islands.
The new logo is in line with other measures already implemented by the event team, such as an effort to reuse plastic materials, reduction of the carbon footprint of the event itself and the use of recycled fabrics in the clothing given to participants or used by volunteers and organisers.
Attention has also been given to event medals, packagaing used, as well as reusable cups at feed stations and at the post finish area. The aim is to eliminate or reduce waste, and contribute to recycling while also improving the service offering to participants.
The 25th anniversary 2023 Triathlon de Portocolom brought together 600 participants of up to 25 different nationalities in the two main races: 55.5km and 111km (1km swim, 100km cycling, and 10km running). Of the total number of participants, 40% were international (non-Spanish), while 20% were women.
The Triathlon de Portocolom is organised by Kumulus and Club Triatló Portocolom, with the support of Felanitx Town Council. It is sponsored by the European Union Next GenerationEU, the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Tourism Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan, the Tourism Strategy Agency of the Balearic Islands Government (AETIB) and the Fundació Mallorca Turisme.
