British Gas Great Swim Series 2012

Nova International, organiser of the British Gas Great Swim Series has confirmed all five of its mass participation, open water swimming event dates for 2012. The biggest open water swim program in the UK is expected to see up to 25,000 participants take up a unique opportunity to swim in rivers, lakes and urban docks across the country.

The official launch of the British Gas Great Swim Series 2012 will take place on Monday 12 March ‘featuring a very special guest’, with Nova International keeping this secret close to its chest for now!

The British Gas Great London Swim, at the Royal Victoria Dock on Saturday 26 May and the British Gas Great Scottish Swim at Strathclyde Country Park on Saturday 25 August, join the already confirmed British Gas Great East Swim in Alton Water, Suffolk on Saturday 16 June, the British Gas Great North Swim in Windermere, taking place over three days from the Friday 22 – Sunday 24 June and the British Gas Great Manchester Swim in Salford Quays on Sunday 1 July.

Alex Jackson, Event Director of the series at Nova International said, “We’re extremely pleased to announce the dates for next year’s events in London and Scotland.

“The British Gas Great London Swim is an extremely popular event, and we hope that in Olympic year, even more Londoners will be inspired to try a new sport and take up the chance to swim in the heart of the capital.

“The British Gas Great Scottish Swim, takes place in Strathclyde Country Park near Glasgow, the venue for the 2014 Commonwealth Games Triathlon, and like all of our events provides an unforgettable experience for beginners and seasoned open water swimmers alike.

“We have already received over 9,000 entries for next year’s events, proving that open water swimming has really captured the imagination of the public.”
