Around 2,000 athletes are lining up to be part of the largest ever Challenge Family The Championship at the x-bionic sphere sports resort near Bratislava in Slovakia. Over 100 of those athletes are some of the world’s top professionals – racing for the €100,000 prize purse on Sunday, May 19, 2024.
The men’s race features top seeds Peter Heemeryck (BEL) and Frederic Funk (GER) both returning to Šamorín with an eye on the top spot after both previously placing second. Also in the mix are Rico Bogen (GER), Jan Stratmann (GER), Kacper Stępniak (POL), Kyle Smith (NZL), Antonio Benito (ESP), Jan Stratmann (GER), James Teagle (GBR), Mark Dubrick (USA), Tom Bishop (GBR), Joe Skipper (GBR) and Bart Aernouts (BEL).
Women’s defending champion, India Lee (GBR) is returning to try to reclaim her title. She will be up against Els Visser (NED), Fenella Langridge (GBR), Caroline Pohle (GER) and Marta Sanchez (ESP), among others.
All the pro racing action will be broadcast live and for free on Sunday, May 19, through The Championship Live powered by ROUVY livestream at www.challenge-family.live as well as on Facebook Live @challengefamily and @challengesamorin. Live coverage starts at 08:15 CEST with the male pro start at 08:30 and females at 08:40.
As well as the flagship The Championship race, the weekend also includes several lead-in events, offering up triathlon for all ages and abilities. These include the Special Olympics, as well as sprint and standard events plus a try-athlon for first timers, all taking place in the Olympic training venue of x-bionic sphere.
