Zafiri Collection: discounted hotels for travellers who want to sweat

The Zafiri Collection, from sports travel website Zafiri, offers a curated set of discounted hotels for active travellers looking to maintain their training when on the road.

Through its membership offering, Zafiri offers 15% off discounts at hotels suited to athletic travellers and visitors looking to workout during their stays. The hotels pair with Zafiri’s city guides covering 75+ cities around the world, each signposting some of the best sport facilities, services and exercise locations.

According to Hilton 2023 Trends Report, nearly 47% of travellers plan to prioritise physical wellness and accessibility to fitness amenities when making bookings. This demand is matched by a growth in hotels focusing on healthier travellers seeking complete gym facilities, healthy menu options and restful stays.

For its launch, the Zafiri Collection includes hotels in Sofia, Bulgaria as well as Kuala Lumpur, Gothenburg, Prague, Los Angeles, West Texas and the Western Cape in South Africa.

“For June 2024, we’ve launched a collection of discounted hotels for our members – vetted hotels suited to working out, resting and spending time with friends,” said Zafiri’s Editor Wil Ross.

“While cities like Los Angeles might be known for drinking and going out, hotels on Sunset Boulevard are also within a short jog of an expansive trail network. We want to shorten the time it takes to get orientated in a new city, giving travellers a licence to prioritise visits to pools, running tracks and cycle routes, as they would at home.”

An annual membership of £72 also includes access to Zafiri Trips, weekends orientated around training and rest.

Zafiri was set up in 2010 by Will Ross to promote responsible athletic travel. As well as covering sports facilities, the site profiles environmental work and creative approaches to using landscape and sports to promote urban design, conservation and healthy lifestyles.
