The TCS NYC Marathon App is available for download, and offers participants and fans exclusive access to a variety of features to plan race day. This year’s TCS New York Marathon gets underway on Sunday, November 3, 2024.
Organised by New York Road Runners (NYRR), 3.5 million people have reportedly downloaded the TCS New York City Marathon app since 2014. NYRR adds that, every year during the first weekend in November, it is the #1 most downloaded sports app worldwide.
The app provides real-time data, helping spectators and fans track an unlimited number of runners during their 26.2-mile journey, across all five New York boroughs.
Developed and powered by Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), notable features in the app include:
- See where friends or family members are on the course and cheer them on with digital cheer cards. If in NYC, use the Spectator Guide to see when a tracked runner will get to a course spot, using directions provided in-app, to cheer them on in-person.
- See all four pro races live through the Pro Race Livestream, which features exclusive data points and facts from the race including pace, distance between contenders, and historical context. In 2023, viewers from more than 150 countries livestreamed the pro races more than 200,000 times.
- For those running the 2024 TCS New York City Marathon, view confirmation form on the race app and use it to collect race bib at the expo. This form includes bib number, bib pick-up time, start-line details, and start-line transportation information.
- The app includes a full schedule of events and all the race day information runners and spectators need to know.
- This year, the TCS New York City Marathon app includes a Sustainability Calculator. This tool can be used to measure environmental impact over race weekend and make eco-friendly choices.
