Building on its international triathlon series, Challenge Family has confirmed the launch of Challenge Fortaleza, expanding its presence in Brazil.
Challenge Fortaleza will host both middle and sprint distance events as well as a junior racing option on August 30-31, 2025, amidst the northeastern golden beaches of Brazil.
Fortaleza, the capital of Ceará in northeastern Brazil, is a tourism destination that offers beaches, lively culture, and warm hospitality. The city boasts coastal spots such as Praia do Futuro, known for its golden sands and bustling beach bars, and Cumbuco, a paradise for kitesurfers.
Challenge Family adds… ‘Fortaleza’s nightlife is electrifying, with live forró music and dance clubs keeping the energy high. Visitors can also explore the historic Centro, the impressive Dragão do Mar Cultural Center, and the local markets offering delicious seafood and handcrafted souvenirs. With its tropical climate, rich history, and dynamic atmosphere, Fortaleza is an unforgettable Brazilian getaway.’
“The idea is to offer a transformative experience for athletes and spectators of all ages,” said Fernando Menezes, Challenge Fortaleza Race Director.
“We want to bring one of the most complete Challenge Family scenarios to Fortaleza, bringing together people who love challenges, new achievements and lots of fun.”
Jort Vlam, Challenge Family CEO, added “We are delighted to work with the team in Brazil to bring Challenge Fortaleza to the athletes in August 2025.
“This part of Brazil is renowned for its vibrant energy and breathtaking scenery, as well as being well established in hosting sporting events. We look forward to welcoming athletes and their families from throughout Brazil and around the world to enjoy its tropical climate, rich history and dynamic atmosphere, as well as a spectacular race.”
The Challenge Fortaleza 1.9km swim will take place in the calm ocean waters off Fortaleza’s main beach, followed by the 90km bike, a coastal route with ocean views, well-paved roads, and a supportive local crowd. The fast, flat multi-lap run heads along the foreshore, passing spots that showcase the city’s energy before finishing on the beachfront.
